President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated five new ambassadors at the Jubilee House in Accra, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to diplomacy and global cooperation.

The seasoned diplomats—Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman (Austria), Vivian Kafui Akua Asempapa (Senegal), Regina Appiah-Sam (Spain), McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong (Iran), and Dr. Senalor Kwabla Yawlui (Sierra Leone)—were urged to champion Ghana’s economic recovery and international partnerships.

Highlighting the significance of their roles, President Akufo-Addo pointed to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the critical need for diplomatic efforts.

He charged the envoys to advance Ghana’s economic revitalization agenda, particularly the Ghana CARES ‘Obaatanpa’ initiative, and to attract investments in agriculture, ICT, and job creation.

The President celebrated Ghana’s recent diplomatic milestones, including full membership in La Francophonie and the election of Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey as Commonwealth Secretary-General, showcasing Ghana’s growing role as a bridge between Anglophone and Francophone Africa.

The new envoys were also tasked with engaging the Ghanaian diaspora to foster national development, promoting Ghana’s democratic values, and upholding integrity and professionalism. “You are the face of Ghana to the world,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ambassador Vivian Asempapa pledged their commitment to advancing Ghana’s global interests and democratic principles with diligence and honor.
