Asante Kotoko endured their third consecutive defeat in the Ghana Premier League, falling 1-0 to Bechem United in their week 10 match on Sunday.
The Porcupines were hoping to rebound from a disappointing stretch, but their efforts were thwarted when Bechem midfielder Kofi Tompuo delivered a stunning volley from around 30 yards out just before the half-hour mark, leaving Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara powerless.
Camara redeemed himself later by saving a powerful shot from Augustine Okrah, keeping the score at 1-0.
Kotoko struggled to find an equalizer, with their best opportunity squandered by Dauda Saaka, who failed to hit the target.
Despite Kotoko’s attempts, Bechem secured their third win of the season, moving up to ninth place with 14 points.
This result adds pressure on Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, as his team remains winless in four matches.
The Porcupines have now lost momentum in the title race, sitting sixth with 15 points—five points behind league leaders Gold Stars.
Kotoko will aim to break their losing streak in their next match against second-placed Nations FC at home, while Bechem United prepares to face Berekum Chelsea away.
