The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has vowed to rededicate himself fully to the challenges ahead, promising to deliver even greater dedication and leadership if confirmed as the Speaker for Ghana’s Ninth Parliament.

This assurance comes after President-elect John Dramani Mahama directed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership to renominate Bagbin for the prestigious role. Highlighting Bagbin’s extensive experience and seasoned leadership, President-elect Mahama expressed confidence in his ability to steer Parliament through the challenges ahead.

In response to the nomination, Speaker Bagbin conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the President-elect, the NDC leadership, and the parliamentary executives for their trust. “I am deeply humbled by His Excellency’s confidence in my ability to lead the august House as we embark on a new chapter in our nation’s democratic journey,” Bagbin remarked.

Reaffirming his dedication to democratic values, Bagbin stated, “Throughout my service to Parliament and the people of Ghana, I have upheld the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. As Speaker, I will ensure Parliament operates with integrity, transparency, and inclusiveness.”

He pledged to work tirelessly to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions, making Parliament an effective and responsive body for addressing the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians. Bagbin also thanked the NDC National Executives and Parliamentary Leadership for the opportunity to continue serving in his role.
