A 13-year-old girl narrowly evaded an alleged ritual killing after being abducted by four unidentified men on Friday evening at Aburi-Kitase in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The teenager, who resides near the home of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, disappeared around 8 p.m. while heading out to buy food in Kitase.

According to sources, the abductors had tied her hands and legs and were reportedly preparing to harm her by slashing her breast.

However, their plan was foiled when a good Samaritan fired warning shots, forcing them to flee the scene.

Frank Amankwah, the Assembly Member for the Kitase Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and attributed the rising insecurity in the area to the malfunctioning streetlights along the Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge stretch. He called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intensify security and address the increasing prevalence of social vices near the Peduase Presidential Lodge.

“I have repeatedly reported the issues of malfunctioning streetlights and security concerns along this stretch. Boys from surrounding towns gather here, and such incidents make it difficult to trace the perpetrators. I appeal to the IGP and security agencies to intervene and ensure the safety of residents,” Amankwah stated.
