The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has issued a sharp critique of the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He warned of political accountability if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumes power on January 7, 2025.
Dafeamekpor accused Afenyo-Markin and the NPP of flouting legal processes during the re-collation and announcement of results for seven out of nine contested parliamentary seats, which were declared in favour of the NPP following a High Court ruling.
He denounced the NPP’s methods, alleging underhanded tactics to secure parliamentary seats, and dismissed Afenyo-Markin’s calls for unity as misleading. “We are not brothers, Afenyo. We are not,” Dafeamekpor asserted.
He further cautioned that under an NDC government, such actions would face repercussions, vowing to reveal where true power resides.
“They may hold government positions now, but the real power is transitioning to us [NDC]. When we take over, we will demonstrate where true power lies,” he said in an interview during the re-collation process at the Electoral Commission’s Greater Accra regional office.
