Wedding Tragedy: 26 Dead as Bus Plunges into River, Only Bride Survives

In a heartbreaking accident, 26 lives were lost when a passenger bus carrying wedding guests from Astore, GB in Pakistan to Chakwal plunged off the Thalichi Bridge into the river.
Among the 27 passengers aboard, only the bride, Malaika, survived. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment as rescue operations continue. Local residents, rescue teams, and police are working tirelessly to locate the remaining victims.
Deputy Commissioner Astore, Muhammad Tariq, confirmed that 14 bodies have been recovered and transferred to Astore DHQ Hospital. The vehicle has also been retrieved from the river.
Home Minister Shams Lone stated that initial investigations suggest the accident occurred due to the slippery surface of the bridge, with further inquiry into possible mechanical failure.
Rescue efforts were temporarily halted due to nightfall but will resume the following morning. President Asif Ali Zardari has offered his condolences to the grieving families, urging swift relief efforts.
