Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to secure a first-round victory in the December 2024 presidential elections.
In an interview, Kwetey dismissed the likelihood of a runoff, emphasizing the NDC’s optimism about its chances.
However, he noted that the ultimate decision rests with the Ghanaian electorate. “We’re confident we will win in the first round. But at the end of the day, it’s up to the people of Ghana,” he said.
Addressing challenges with the Electoral Commission (EC), Kwetey criticized the body for recent delays in special voting in the Western and Eastern regions, as well as broader issues of competence and neutrality.
He compared the current EC leadership unfavorably to past commissioners, raising concerns about their performance and impartiality. Despite these challenges, he reaffirmed the NDC’s resolve to clinch victory.
