Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has humbly conceded defeat in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, expressing the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) respect for the will of the Ghanaian people.
In a statement, the NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate acknowledged the disappointment of party supporters but emphasized the need for introspection and reform to rebuild for future success.
“The 2024 elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was not the outcome we anticipated, but we respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people. To all Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly, and with humility, we accept. We will work with you to get it right,” NAPO stated.
He further revealed that conversations have already begun within the party to analyze the results, identify shortcomings, and chart a path forward.
NAPO expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve his party and the nation, thanking God for His guidance. He also noted that he had held discussions with NPP’s flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to reflect on the party’s performance and initiate a thorough review.
“As a political party, we will take time to understand the causes of our 2024 election loss and, with determination, rise stronger for the future,” he concluded.
This marks a call for unity and rebuilding as the NPP gears up for the challenges ahead.
