A recent Emerson College poll indicates that U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris holds a slim lead over former President Donald Trump, coming in at 49% to Trump’s 48% nationally. This margin is within the poll’s 3-point margin of error, reflecting a tightly contested race.

The poll also highlights Harris’s stronger favorability ratings; 53% of voters view her positively, while Trump garners a 49% favorable rating against 51% unfavorable. The gender dynamics are notable, with Trump leading among men (56% to 42%) and Harris dominating among women (55% to 41%).

As Election Day approaches and early voting begins, 80% of voters report they decided whom to support over a month ago, while 11% made their choice in the past month and 6% in the last week. Interestingly, the 3% of undecided voters currently lean towards Harris (48% to 43%).

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, noted, “Voters who decided more than a month ago favor Trump, but those who made up their minds recently lean towards Harris.”

The latest findings underscore a tight race as both candidates prepare for the final stretch.

The Hill’s Decision Desk HQ average shows Harris with a lead of just under 3 points, mirroring the razor-thin margins in battleground states.
