Samuel Koku Anyidoho, CEO of the Atta Mills Institute and former aide to the late President Atta Mills, has criticized the late president’s brothers, accusing them of failing to honor his legacy.
The tension between Anyidoho and the Mills family dates back to July 2022, when he advocated for the refurbishment of Asomdwoe Park, the resting place of the late president, which had fallen into disrepair.
Despite facing backlash from the Mills family, Anyidoho spearheaded efforts to renovate the site.
Recently, he collaborated with NPP Vice Presidential Candidate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to establish a state-of-the-art library in Ekumfi Otuam, President Mills’ hometown. The facility aims to preserve the memory of Ghana’s third president of the Fourth Republic for future generations.
During the library’s commissioning, Anyidoho reflected on the opposition he faced when advocating for Asomdwoe Park’s refurbishment. He questioned Samuel Atta Mills, MP for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem, and Dr. Cadman Mills, challenging them to showcase any significant initiatives they’ve undertaken to honor their brother’s memory.
“Twelve years after his death, I am challenging President Mills’ brothers to point to a single effort they have made to preserve his legacy. They’ve done absolutely nothing,” he asserted.
Anyidoho expressed gratitude to Dr. Opoku Prempeh for funding the library project, commending his dedication to preserving President Mills’ legacy.
