Texas Offers Trump 1,400 Acres for Migrant Detention Centers Amid Deportation Plans
With a 1,400-acre plot on the table, Texas moves forward with supporting Trump’s plan despite legal and financial challenges
- Texas has offered President-elect Trump a 1,400-acre plot of land along the US-Mexico border
- This offer is part of Texas' ongoing support for Trump's border security policies
- The land would be used for processing, detention, and coordination of Trump's planned deportation operation
Texas officials have offered President-elect Donald Trump a 1,400-acre plot of land along the US-Mexico border for building facilities aimed at processing and detaining undocumented migrants.
The Texas General Land Office’s letter proposes the site for the “largest deportation of violent criminals in U.S. history.”
Trump’s administration has repeatedly vowed to deport millions of undocumented migrants and deploy the National Guard for support, although the plan faces significant financial, logistical, and legal challenges from advocacy groups.
The offered land, currently flat farmland, was previously blocked by its former owner from constructing a border wall and restricting law enforcement access. Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham stated the location would be ideal for building a detention facility.
While Texas continues to back Trump’s border policies, Democratic governors in California, Arizona, and New Mexico have expressed opposition to assisting with large-scale deportations.
