A 25-year-old man, Richmond Owusu Kankam, has been discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in Ahwiaa, located within the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
His lifeless body was found along the roadside near the Ahwiaa RC School on Sunday morning, April 6th, 2025, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Richmond, who lived with his grandmother in Mamponteng, had been last seen on Friday when he left for the market. His mother, Nana Yaa, recalled receiving a heartbreaking call later that day, informing her that Richmond had been allegedly killed.
In a state of panic, Nana Yaa visited his workplace, only to find it closed and no sign of her son. Despite her efforts to locate him, including visits to his usual spots, her search proved unsuccessful. In frustration, she filed a report with the Mamponteng Police, who suggested he may have stayed over at his girlfriend’s house.
Undeterred, Nana Yaa continued her search, and on the following day, while traveling by tricycle, she overheard that a body had been found nearby. Acting on her instincts, she visited the site and was devastated to identify her son’s body.
The community is demanding a swift and thorough investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Richmond’s death, as police have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
