Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maxwell Fosu Boakye, has praised the government’s initiative to install CCTV cameras across the country.
He believes these cameras have significantly aided in the pursuit of criminals.
Speaking on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen Morning Show, he highlighted the importance of these installations in light of the Adabraka robbery that occurred in broad daylight on November 2, 2024.
The robbery at Adabraka Market in Accra was a shocking event for shoppers, as four masked gunmen targeted a man in a red Toyota Corolla.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of panic as the robbers brandished their weapons and fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd.
Amid the chaos, they broke into the vehicle and made off with large sacks of cash, escaping in their getaway car while continuing to fire warning shots.
In response to this audacious crime, the police assured the public of their commitment to capturing the perpetrators and have released CCTV footage showing the escape route taken by the robbers, which included Shiashi, Ashaiman, and nearby areas.
Hon. Fosu Boakye reiterated that the government’s installation of CCTV cameras on major streets is instrumental in enhancing security and fighting crime.
He argued that this progress warrants the government’s re-election to continue its efforts.
