  • Concerns grow over the spread of sexually transmitted infections

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Equatorial Guinea is investigating Baltasar Ebang Engonga, known as “Bello,” for possible public health violations.

Ebang Engonga, the General Director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), is already imprisoned on corruption charges.

However, new explicit videos circulating on social media have intensified scrutiny.

These videos allegedly show Ebang Engonga in unprotected sexual encounters with multiple women, including spouses of prominent citizens and other high-profile individuals. While it’s claimed these encounters were filmed with the women’s consent, raising questions about violations of personal integrity, the health risks of such behavior are alarming, particularly concerning sexually transmitted infections.

The Attorney General pointed out that, despite the consent implied in the footage, consensual sexual relations are not criminal unless evidence of coercion or violence is presented. This underscores the urgent need for victims to report instances of sexual abuse or assault.

Additionally, the Attorney General highlighted that the health risks extend beyond the individuals involved, potentially affecting their partners and the broader community.

Nzang Nguema has called for a supportive atmosphere for victims, emphasizing the importance of making individuals feel safe and empowered to come forward.
