Russia has issued a warning to its citizens, advising them not to travel to the United States, Canada, and several European Union nations, citing potential risks due to the deteriorating relations between Russia and these countries.
In a news briefing on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that traveling to the U.S. could expose Russians to serious risks, including being targeted by authorities.
She described the current state of U.S.-Russia relations as being “on the verge of rupture.”
Zakharova further cautioned Russians to avoid travel to Canada and EU countries, labeling them as “satellites” of the U.S. in this context.
This warning follows the U.S. State Department’s advisory to its citizens, which also advises against traveling to Russia, citing the potential for harassment, detention by Russian security officials, and the arbitrary enforcement of local laws based on nationality.
