Black Stars coach Otto Addo has dismissed calls for his resignation following Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Niger in their final Group F match, reaffirming his commitment to the team despite mounting criticism.
Addressing the backlash, Addo expressed resilience, emphasizing that he has overcome numerous challenges in his journey to becoming a coach and will not be deterred by public pressure.
“I’m not the type to resign. If I had quit along the way, I wouldn’t have become a player or a coach. Considering my journey, asking about resignation doesn’t make sense. Criticism won’t shake me,” he asserted.
While acknowledging the team’s struggles, Addo highlighted promising performances from newer players and urged fans and the media to rally behind the team instead of assigning blame.
“The media shapes narratives. Instead of focusing solely on results, lift the players. They gave everything,” he appealed, calling for unity as the team regroups to address its defensive lapses and prepare for future challenges.
