- He urges President-Elect John Mahama to investigate and prosecute all officials involved in the galamsey crisis
- Hopeson Adorye plans to expose names of culprits under the "Jail Them Advocacy" initiative after January 7 inauguration
Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, Director for Special Duties of the Movement for Change, has called for the prosecution of President Nana Akufo-Addo after his tenure for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.
In an interview, Adorye accused the President of being complicit in the worsening galamsey (illegal mining) crisis, which has resulted in severe pollution of the country’s water bodies. He described the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral loss as a positive development for Ghana, urging President-Elect John Mahama to investigate and prosecute government officials linked to galamsey activities.
Adorye alleged he possesses a list of individuals involved in the galamsey operations under Akufo-Addo’s administration and plans to release their names after the January 7 inauguration.
He revealed his affiliation with a group called “Jail Them Advocacy,” committed to ensuring the prosecution of all implicated officials. Adorye clarified that his stance is not retaliation for his dismissal from the NPP following his support for Alan Kyerematen but a commitment to justice.
