A tragic incident occurred on Sunday, December 15, 2024, when a policeman accidentally shot and killed his colleague at Abease along the Prang-Kintampo road in the Bono East region.
The incident unfolded around 11:30 am during a funeral procession, where mourners encountered a police barrier. Tensions escalated after a mourner allegedly insulted a female police officer, leading to a call for backup.
Upon arrival, the reinforcement team clashed with the mourners, and during the chaos, a policeman fired warning shots. In an attempt to disarm him, the gun discharged, fatally wounding his colleague in the abdomen.
The officer responsible fled the scene, while the injured officer was rushed to a clinic and later transferred to Techiman Hospital, where he tragically passed away from his injuries.
