Police vs. Police: 10 Officers Sue IGP Over “Dubious” Transfers

Officers claim transfer directive is baseless, seek High Court intervention to halt alleged unjustified relocations

Story Highlights
  • Officers allege the transfers are unjustified and target their intelligence-gathering unit
  • Deputy IGP reportedly directed the officers to disregard the transfer orders
  • The High Court will review the case as disciplinary proceedings remain on hold

Ten officers of the Ghana Police Service, led by Sergeant David Ojeyim, have taken legal action to block transfer directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), citing them as baseless and unjustified.

The officers were part of an intelligence-gathering unit formed under Deputy IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who allegedly instructed them to disregard the transfer orders. Despite these directives, the officers face interdiction while awaiting a High Court review of their case.

Court filings reveal that the transfers would relocate most of the officers to remote regions, raising concerns about the motive and fairness of the directive.
