The Ghana Police have successfully recovered a Nissan Pick-Up vehicle that was stolen from the office of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West.

The vehicle was taken on Monday, December 9, by unidentified individuals who raided the MP’s office, also making off with valuable items, including three motorbikes.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who suffered a defeat in the December 7 elections to the NDC’s Rev. Kweku Addo, had her office targeted in the aftermath of the polls. Rev. Addo secured 31,866 votes, defeating Owusu-Ekuful, who garnered 26,575 votes.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Police Head of Public Affairs Directorate, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, confirmed that the stolen vehicle had been recovered and was now in the custody of the Dansoman Police Station. Efforts to track down the perpetrators are ongoing.

The police also revealed that 17 additional individuals had been arrested in connection with various post-election disturbances, bringing the total number of arrests related to election-related incidents to 123.

Authorities are continuing their search for suspects involved in the vandalism of police stations in Techiman (Bono East Region) and Wenchi (Bono Region).

“We assure the public that we will spare no effort in bringing these criminals to justice,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated. “To those still on the run, we warn you: How long can you hide? Whatever it takes, we are coming for you, and we will ensure you are apprehended.”

Amid continuing attacks on government offices, the Ghana Police Service has reassured civil servants that they are safe to resume work. This follows a directive from the Head of the Civil Service, instructing all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to take necessary precautions and temporarily close offices if staff feel their safety is at risk.
