A heart-wrenching discovery was made near River Pra in the Assin North District of the Central Region, where a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler was found abandoned under mysterious and disturbing circumstances.
The child, suspected to have special needs, was discovered in a dense bush near the riverbank by Edward Ahorso, a fisherman on a late afternoon expedition. Around 4 pm, Ahorso stumbled upon the toddler and immediately alerted the police at Assin Praso.
Chief Inspector Jacob Osei Kojo led a police team to the scene, identified as the Praso Slave Site, where they discovered the child wearing multicolored trousers and a white T-shirt.
Evidence at the site suggested ritualistic activities, with items such as mashed yam and four boiled eggs arranged in a bowl near the child. Signs of a struggle were also observed.
The child was quickly transported to the Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit for medical attention.
The police have launched a rigorous investigation to track down the culprits and have appealed to the public for any information that could aid their efforts.
This troubling incident has left the local community in shock, raising questions about the child’s abandonment and the suspected ritualistic context.
