A deadly altercation at a school gala competition in the Western Region has resulted in the death of 23-year-old Appiah Kwasi, who was allegedly stabbed with scissors by a suspect identified as D-Black.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024, in Bepoh, near Appiate, within the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.
The altercation began after a penalty infringement during the grand finale between Ehyireso Methodist JHS and Bepoh D/A JHS at Ehyireso Junction Park.
The penalty allowed Bepoh D/A JHS to level the score to 1-1 in the second half, but Ehyireso Methodist JHS ultimately triumphed in the penalty shootout.
A heated argument erupted between the deceased, a supporter of Ehyireso, and Bepoh D/A JHS fans, escalating into violence.
Reports indicate that D-Black, a well-known local figure from Bepoh, stabbed Appiah Kwasi multiple times with scissors during the altercation.
The victim was rushed to the Ehyireso Nkwanta Health Centre before being transferred to Bogoso Municipal Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
His body has been moved to the municipal morgue for autopsy.
The Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Police have arrested D-Black and his accomplices and are investigating the fatal stabbing.
