Pep Guardiola has agreed to extend his stay at Manchester City by one year, securing his tenure at the club for a decade.

While City have not officially commented on the news, multiple sources have confirmed that the 53-year-old Spanish manager has signed a new deal, which will keep him at the club until 2025.

Guardiola, who joined Manchester City in 2016, has enjoyed an incredibly successful spell, winning 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles.

His original contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, but this new extension ensures his continued leadership. There are speculations that the agreement could include an option for a second year, though details remain unclear at this point.

Under Guardiola’s guidance, City achieved remarkable success, including becoming just the second English men’s team to win the Treble—comprising the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same season.

Additionally, Guardiola led City to become the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles and set a record with 100 points in a single campaign.

City currently sit second in the Premier League, five points behind Liverpool, though they are in the midst of a rare four-match losing streak across all competitions.

This marks the first time in Guardiola’s managerial career, excluding shootouts, that he has experienced such a run of defeats. Following their most recent 2-1 loss to Brighton, Guardiola remarked, “Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year another team deserves it.”

Guardiola has previously signed contract extensions in May 2018, November 2020, and November 2022, further solidifying his long-term commitment to the club.
