Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the financier of Division One League club Elmina Sharks, has hinted at the possibility of stepping down from overseeing the team due to the numerous challenges faced in managing the club.
Following a controversy during a league match against Swedru All Blacks on Sunday, February 16, where players and officials allegedly attacked a referee, Nduom expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation.
In an interview with GTV Sports+, Nduom, who declined to accept responsibility for the incident, revealed his frustration with the ongoing difficulties in running the club.
He stated that he was considering whether to continue his involvement in the team, emphasizing that it was no longer “worth it.”
“I don’t do it for money or any other reason; we do it for opportunities,” he said. “We have players who are playing in Egypt and other places, and they are doing well. Do we need to endure this kind of treatment?”
The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Swedru All Blacks, but the focus quickly shifted to the violent altercation that erupted after referee Eso Doh Morrison’s final whistle, with Elmina Sharks’ players and officials protesting a penalty decision that handed the visitors all three points.
