Ibrahim Kayaba, a notorious criminal wanted in several West African countries, has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Department in Kumasi.

Kayaba, 27, was apprehended on Friday, January 25th, following an adjournment of his current criminal case in the Asokwa Circuit Court.

Kayaba is a suspected murderer, kidnapper, and fraudster who has been on the run since May 2022.

He is wanted in connection with the murders of two Togolese nationals, Lambounne Adama Kourag and Abdullai Jaboung, in the Adjen Kotoku area of Accra.

This arrest comes after a period of prolonged investigations and a history of delays in the justice system.

Background:

  • In April 2022, three individuals – Seidu Sambianne, Samuel Yormekpe, and Nicholas Atsidokpo Kade – were arrested in connection with a fake gold and money syndicate.

  • The police discovered the body of a man believed to be a victim of the syndicate at their hideout in Adjen Kotoku.

  • The investigation also uncovered evidence of a money printing operation and the seizure of counterfeit currency.

  • One of the key suspects, Abu Sinjonne, was arrested and later released on bail despite facing serious charges, including murder.

  • The delays in the judicial process have frustrated the families of the victims, who have faced numerous obstacles in their pursuit of justice.

The arrest of Ibrahim Kayaba marks a significant step in the ongoing investigations into this criminal network.
