Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s Minister-designate for Defence, has called on individuals who do not meet the required qualifications to refrain from applying to join the nation’s security services.
During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Dr. Omane Boamah stressed the importance of following the established recruitment criteria, particularly the medical requirements.
He emphasized that those with medical conditions, such as heart problems, should not attempt to join the security services, as it could put their health at risk.
He reassured the committee that, if confirmed in his role, he would uphold the integrity of the recruitment process and ensure it is strictly adhered to.
“If you have a heart condition and are recruited by bypassing the system, you’re putting your life in danger. From a medical standpoint, I would be the first to advise against attempting it if you don’t meet the qualifications,” he said.
Dr. Omane Boamah further assured the committee, “I will not, and I can assure you that I will not circumvent the process.”
