Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s Defence Minister-designate, has vowed to address regional disparities in the recruitment process for the Ghana Armed Forces and other security agencies to ensure fairness across all regions.

During his appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on January 28, Dr. Omane Boamah emphasized the need for an equitable recruitment system that would eliminate geographical imbalances, particularly in medical assessments.

Acknowledging the advantage of candidates in Accra due to the proximity of the 37 Military Hospital, he committed to exploring solutions that would allow recruits from all regions equal access to medical and recruitment processes.

“I am a strong advocate for equity, and we will ensure that all recruitment procedures are aligned with fairness. For instance, a candidate from the Upper West or Upper East regions should not be at a disadvantage in terms of access to medical assessments,” he said. “We will apply equity principles to make sure regional balance is achieved in the recruitment process.”
