A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Manwerehene Baffour Brentuo Osei Hwedie Hyiaman, has taken the current party leadership to task for sidelining key founding members like Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.
In a scathing critique, the Manwerehene revealed that none of the current NPP leadership were present when the party was founded during the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
He expressed disappointment in the party for overlooking the contributions of Kyerematen, a key figure in the party’s formation.
“He has really sacrificed for the party,” the Manwerehene said of Kyerematen during a visit by the presidential hopeful to his palace. “I can’t identify one single elder in the current NPP who was there when we were founding the party.”
The Manwerehene also criticized the current leadership for their “manner of managing the party,” stating that they have “taken away our shine.”
He urged NPP members to reconsider their support for the current leadership and rally behind Kyerematen, who he believes is the best candidate for the presidency.
