NPP Denies Approaching A-Plus for Parliamentary Alliance
Party General Secretary Justin Kodua clarifies there have been no discussions or proposals made to the Gomoa Central MP-elect
- The NPP denies any discussions or agreements with A-Plus regarding a parliamentary alliance
- A-Plus’ allegation that the NPP promised not to contest the Gomoa Central seat in 2028 is untrue
- A-Plus won the 2024 Gomoa Central seat independently
Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly rejected claims made by Gomoa Central’s Member of Parliament-elect, Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), that the NPP sought to form an alliance with him in Parliament.
In an official statement, Kodua emphasized that the party had neither met with A Plus nor instructed anyone to engage with him on its behalf.
This clarification came in response to a Facebook post by A Plus, where he alleged that NPP, under Kennedy Agyapong’s leadership, had approached him about an alliance, with promises not to contest the Gomoa Central seat in 2028.
A Plus, who triumphed as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections, defeated both NDC and NPP candidates.
His win positions him as a significant figure in Parliament, where the NDC holds a commanding majority, while the NPP has 88 seats, bolstered by four independent MPs.
