NPP Could Have Secured Assin Central if Kennedy Agyapong Contested — Rev. Ntim Fordjour

Assin South MP Highlights Agyapong's Unique Influence and Calls for Strategic Reclamation of Lost Seats

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, believes that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could have maintained its hold on the Assin Central seat if Kennedy Agyapong had contested.

According to him, Agyapong’s strong political influence and past electoral success could have swayed the outcome.

Despite his consistent victories in Assin Central, Agyapong chose to focus on the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries rather than seek re-election. Rev. Fordjour acknowledged that while Agyapong faced challenges in his last two elections due to dwindling voter turnout, his ability to connect with the electorate remained unmatched.

“He has a way of entrenching his support base and ensuring people follow him. Even when voter apathy sets in, his impact still resonates,” Fordjour remarked.

He further noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had secured both Assin Central and Assin North, leaving the NPP with only Assin South, emphasizing the need for a strategic approach to reclaim the lost constituencies.
