Majority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin has expressed unwavering confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ability to win the ongoing legal battle over contested parliamentary seats.

Following a December 31, 2024, adjournment at the Accra High Court, Afenyo-Markin reassured NPP supporters, emphasizing that due process would ensure the party retains the four disputed constituencies.

The Effutu Member of Parliament dismissed allegations of irregularities surrounding the Electoral Commission’s (EC) handling of the seats, which were initially declared for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He reinforced that the EC had already recognized the redeclared results as illegal, affirming their commitment to correcting the situation.

“We trust the legal process. While the court proceedings may take time, we are confident of the outcome because we are standing on solid ground,” Afenyo-Markin said.

He also noted that the situation had moved from violence to a lawful resolution in court, a development he hailed as a triumph for civility and the rule of law.

The case, which centers on constituencies including Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South, will see the Accra High Court deliver its decision on January 1, 2025, after the adjournment.
