A young man, whose identity remains unknown, has been accused of killing his mother, Justina Amunde, and hiding her body in a well in Cross River State.
The tragic event unfolded on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the Ohong Community, Obudu Local Government Area.
In a heartbreaking video shared on Facebook by Okoi Promise, locals are seen retrieving the lifeless body of Justina from the well.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect ambushed his mother after she returned from church, bound her, and, with the help of a friend, disposed of her body.
The suspect reportedly threatened the house help, warning her not to speak out or face death.
In an attempt to silence the maid, the suspect allegedly took her on a bike, but they were intercepted by local vigilantes. The girl later told authorities what had transpired.
The suspect is said to have fled the scene and remains on the run.
