The Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has strongly condemned the actions of an Electoral Commission (EC) official involved in electoral misconduct, demanding the immediate prosecution of the individual.
A police report confirmed the arrest of an EC official in Kintampo South, Bono East Region, for electoral offences.
The suspect, identified as Dery Joseph, is under investigation for issuing approximately 15 ballot papers to voters at the Ampesika Bayere polling station that omitted Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the first presidential candidate.
Speaking to journalists in Accra on December 7, Aboagye expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as “worrying and sad.” He emphasized that such misconduct must be condemned and called for swift legal action against the EC official involved.
“This is a very worrying and sad situation, and we need to condemn it. The NPP is demanding the immediate prosecution of Joseph Dery, as his actions are a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise Ghanaian voters,” Aboagye stated.
He urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and party agents at polling stations to remain vigilant and prevent any similar incidents from occurring in the future.
