”NPP Akan Voters Have Not Accepted Bawumia” – Global Info-Analytics as Latest Poll Shows Mahama Will Win with 52.7%
Global Info-Analytics Poll Shows Shifting Voter Trends as John Mahama Holds Strong Lead Over Bawumia
- John Mahama edges out Bawumia by over 11 percentage points, according to the latest poll
- A significant portion of NPP's Akan-speaking base has not embraced Bawumia
- 65% of respondents report feeling the country’s economy is struggling
Global Info-Analytics, a reputable research firm, has conducted a poll to gauge the mood of the Ghanaian electorate.
Their report offers valuable insights into the country’s political landscape and predicts which presidential candidate will win the 2024 elections.
According to Musah Dankwah, the Executive Director and Head of Global Research at Global Info-Analytics, in a recent telephone poll conducted with 2,058 voters, if the elections were held today, NDC Flagbearer John Mahama would win with 52.7%, while Bawumia would trail at 41%.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Musah Dankwah added that Alan Kyerematen would secure 1.5%, Nana Kwame Bediako aka Cheddar would get 4%, and the remaining presidential candidates would receive 0% each.
He broke down the poll sample of 2,058 voters as follows: 35% identified as NPP supporters, 35.6% as NDC supporters, 19.1% as floating voters, 2.4% from smaller parties, and 9.9% did not disclose their political affiliation.
Musah Dankwah also shared that 65% of voters feel the country is struggling, while 20% believe the situation is good, and 9% had no opinion.
Explaining why Dr. Bawumia could not secure more than 45% in the poll, Musah Dankwah stated, “Voters today are different from those who voted in 2008. Modern voters no longer adhere to the same political loyalties that older generations do, who are traditionally NPP or NDC supporters. In fact, of those who voted in 2020, about 24% have switched their allegiance to John Mahama, which is unprecedented. The issue seems to be coming from NPP strongholds.”
Musah Dankwah asked if the NPP Akan community has accepted Dr. Bawumia. He responded with a firm “No,” explaining that the results of their polls indicate otherwise.
He concluded by noting that there has been little change in the voting patterns in the Northern Regions.
