The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed that the recent turmoil in Parliament is a calculated maneuver by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aimed at securing victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The NPP alleges that this scheme is detailed in a document titled “Winning the 2024 Elections and Beyond: A Comprehensive NDC Strategy.” They argue that the NDC is leveraging its near-majority in Parliament to create obstacles for the government’s legislative agenda.
At a press conference on October 23, NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, accused the NDC of collaborating with Speaker Alban Bagbin to intentionally disrupt government operations.
He stated that this plan has been in motion since 2021, fostering gridlock and hindering vital government initiatives as part of their electoral strategy.
The NPP has urged Ghanaians to be vigilant against these alleged tactics, warning that they could jeopardize national governance and stall essential development projects.
“This strategy, evident in recent parliamentary events, is not a coincidence,” Ahiagbah remarked.
“The NDC seems intent on asserting dominance through a partnership with the Speaker, effectively orchestrating a coup within Parliament to undermine government functions.”
