Nigeria experienced a nationwide blackout on Monday due to a collapse of the national electricity grid.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) reported the grid failure occurred at 6:58 PM, affecting power supply in their service areas.
Emeka Ezeh, from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC), stated that a general system collapse happened at 6:48 PM, leading to widespread power loss across their network.
All interface TCN stations are offline, hindering service delivery to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states.
EEDC is currently awaiting updates on restoration efforts from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo. The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) also reported the system collapse, emphasizing their collaboration with stakeholders to restore power.
They confirmed the power outage resulted from the grid failure at 6:58 PM, affecting their franchise areas. Both companies are committed to restoring power as soon as the grid stabilizes.
