Brazilian forward Neymar Jr is poised to make his return to action after a year-long injury layoff. His club, Al Hilal, confirmed that he will join the squad for their Asian Champions League match against Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
Neymar sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Brazil’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023. He underwent surgery in November and has been recovering since.
Despite moving to Saudi Arabia from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of 90 million euros ($97.9 million) in August, Neymar played only five games before his injury. He missed Brazil’s 2024 Copa America campaign, where they suffered another early exit.
Al Hilal announced Neymar’s return on social media, stating that he has completed his recovery program and participated in team training. His marketing company, NR Sports, also confirmed his potential return for the AFC Champions League match.
Neymar’s agency expressed his eagerness to return to action, driven by his love for football and his desire to play in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Brazilian forward’s recovery journey has been marked by perseverance and unwavering support from family, friends, and fans.
The match against Al Ain at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Monday will mark Neymar’s long-awaited return to the field.
