NDC's Brogya Genfi to Present Evidence Against National House of Chiefs President for Partisan Politics Claims
- NDC will provide evidence that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II is involved in partisan politics
- This statement follows accusations made by Asiedu Nketiah
- Genfi emphasized the NDC's position against chiefs participating in active politics
The Deputy Director for Special Duties at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Brogya Genfi, has announced that the party’s National Chairman will provide evidence to back claims that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, is involved in partisan politics.
This statement follows accusations made by Asiedu Nketiah during a campaign visit to Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Constituency, where he alleged that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has been supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In response to these allegations, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II challenged Nketiah to take legal action if he possesses any proof of political bias.
Brogya Genfi emphasized the NDC’s position against chiefs participating in active politics.
“Given that they have issued this challenge, the National Chairman will address it,” he stated. “Rest assured, this matter will not fade away, as it’s crucial for our chiefs to remain neutral and refrain from engaging in active partisan politics, as outlined in the 1992 constitution. The Supreme Court has clarified what constitutes active partisan politics.”
Genfi added, “This means that chiefs, regardless of their rank—whether paramount chiefs or divisional chiefs—must not participate in active politics or endorse candidates. I am confident that this issue will continue to be addressed.”
