The MTN Ghana Foundation has made a significant contribution to advancing STEM education with the launch of a state-of-the-art integrated STEM laboratory in Wiamoase, located in the Ashanti Region.
This cutting-edge facility, the first of its kind in the area, is designed to provide students and teachers with hands-on experience in various STEM disciplines.
As part of its commitment to empowering youth through innovation and education, the MTN Ghana Foundation has invested GHS 746,425.00 to finance the lab and equip it with top-tier learning tools. These resources include:
- LEGO Education: A modern STEM learning solution for students at pre-school, primary, and secondary levels.
- SPIKE Essential units: Engaging students with practical STEM investigations based on everyday themes.
- REV Robots: A comprehensive robotics kit featuring over 1,400 parts, offering extensive design flexibility for teams.
- Drone Technology
- Virtual Reality Sets
- Programming Languages: Scratch, Java, and Python
- Science Research Tools
The Foundation’s dedication to enhancing STEM education underscores MTN’s belief in the power of technology to bridge gaps and improve lives.
At the official handover ceremony, Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, emphasized the importance of digital inclusion in underserved communities.
He stated, “This Integrated STEM Lab is more than just a building; it is a gateway to opportunities. It represents hope, progress, and a brighter future for the children and youth of Wiamoase and beyond.”
Nana Boakye Yiadom, the Chief of Wiamoase, expressed his gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation and encouraged local students to embrace digital literacy and make full use of the new resources to develop valuable skills.
Since its establishment in 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation has initiated over 178 impactful projects in economic empowerment, education, and health, reaching more than 5 million individuals across the country.
