The Girls-In-ICT program, a collaboration with MTN Ghana, aims to bridge the gender gap in technology and inspire more young women to pursue careers in the ICT sector.
The training includes modules on Introduction to Computer Programming, Cyber Security, Animation Development, Game Development, Coding, Scratch, and Website Design.
While interacting with the students, Minister Owusu-Ekuful encouraged them to set high aspirations and strive to exceed expectations. She emphasized the importance of expanding their knowledge base by exploring various subjects, stating that knowledge is power.
She advised the girls to focus their time on educational pursuits rather than distractions and encouraged them to utilize educational resources available online.
Additionally, the Minister introduced the Ghana Knowledge and Skills Bank (GKSB) to the participants.
This comprehensive digital portal, funded by the World Bank and supported by MTN, offers over 5 million online library archives, educational resources, and tools designed for learners at all levels, from basic to tertiary education and vocational training.
Minister Owusu-Ekuful highlighted that the GKSB is the second of its kind in Africa, after Egypt, and aims to provide inclusive and equitable quality education in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Four.
