John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghana’s youth to embrace digital transformation, discipline, and education as critical tools for success in the modern economy.
Speaking at the 2025 National Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Black Star Square on March 31, Mahama emphasized that young people are key to Ghana’s future prosperity and must actively equip themselves with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, marking the end of Ramadan, brought together Muslims from across the country for prayer, thanksgiving, and reflection.
In his speech, Mahama stressed the importance of embracing digital tools and technology as the world increasingly shifts toward a digital economy. He encouraged the youth to focus on learning essential skills in areas such as coding, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and entrepreneurship to stay competitive both locally and internationally.
“To our young people, I say Ghana’s future is in your hands. In this era of digital transformation, economic challenges, and global competition, our youth must equip themselves with the skills, knowledge, and discipline necessary to thrive. You are the ones who will shape this country’s destiny,” Mahama stated.
He also encouraged the youth to balance their faith with education and hard work, saying, “Allow your faith to guide you, but also let your education and hard work empower you to build a brighter future. It is important to be a faithful Muslim, but it is equally important to be an educated Muslim.”
Mahama assured that the government would continue to create an enabling environment that provides young people with the opportunities they deserve, hoping that Muslim youth, in particular, would take full advantage of these opportunities.
