- Strong emphasis on probity and the implementation of a robust code of conduct for public officials
President-elect John Dramani Mahama is set to launch a committee tasked with overseeing the execution of his ambitious 120-day social contract.
This initiative aims to implement key reforms and policies during the early stages of his presidency.
The plan includes fast-tracking cabinet minister nominations within the first 14 days, streamlining government operations to create a more efficient structure by day 90, establishing a comprehensive code of conduct for public officials, and initiating a national dialogue on economic recovery and fiscal consolidation.
Mahama also pledges to eliminate several taxes, such as the E-Levy, COVID-19 levy, the 10% betting levy, and the emissions levy.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Apostolic Fathers, Mahama noted, “We have carefully chosen achievable goals for the first 120 days and will work tirelessly to meet them. At the end of this period, we aim to check each one off.”
The new administration will also focus on enhancing accountability, with Mahama emphasizing that, “It’s a constitutional duty to uphold probity and accountability.”
