John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to establish public universities in six newly created regions if the party wins the 2024 elections.

Speaking to chiefs and supporters in Nkatieso, Juaboso Constituency, Western North Region, on November 14, Mahama stressed the need for equitable access to higher education across all regions in Ghana.

He highlighted the NDC’s track record of building institutions like the University of Development Studies and the University of Allied Sciences, and promised that his government would extend these efforts by developing universities or campuses in the newly divided regions.

Mahama called on local leaders to set aside land for these projects, ensuring the spread of tertiary education throughout the country.
