Lewandowski Powers Barcelona to Victory Over Sevilla
Robert Lewandowski continued his impressive scoring form, netting two goals as Barcelona cruised to a dominant 5-2 victory over Sevilla in La Liga.
The win restored Barcelona’s three-point lead at the top of the table.
Lewandowski, now aged 36, has scored an impressive 14 goals in 12 games across all competitions this season. His latest brace against Sevilla marks his 10th goal in his past six matches.
Barcelona’s dominance was evident from the start, as they led 3-0 at halftime for the third consecutive match. Lewandowski scored twice, converting a penalty and finishing off a pass from Raphinha. Pedri also contributed a spectacular goal with a powerful strike from outside the box.
With his latest goals, Lewandowski has joined Jimmy Greaves as the joint-third highest scorer of all time across Europe’s top-five leagues. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have scored more goals.
Pablo Torre added two goals late in the match, further extending Barcelona’s lead. Sevilla managed to score twice through Stanis Idumbo, but they were no match for Barcelona’s attacking prowess.
The home crowd at the Olympic Stadium had additional reasons to celebrate as Gavi, who had been out with an ACL injury, made his return to the team.
Barcelona’s victory over Sevilla sets them up for two crucial matches next week: a Champions League clash against Bayern Munich and a La Liga showdown with rivals Real Madrid.
