Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Ghana’s security agencies to urgently address the rising incidents of lawlessness following the December 7 general elections.

Reports suggest that alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have stormed multiple state agencies, causing chaos and disrupting operations. Addressing the nation on Tuesday, December 10, Mahama condemned the attacks, describing them as unacceptable and urging immediate action to halt the vandalism.

“These actions are unacceptable and must stop immediately. I urge the President and the security agencies to act swiftly to restore law and order,” Mahama stressed.

While condemning the acts of violence, Mahama appealed for calm and respect for the rule of law during this critical transition. He emphasized the importance of transforming frustration into constructive efforts to rebuild the nation.

“To our youth, I say: do not express your frustration through criminal acts. Instead, channel your energy into the positive enterprise of resetting and rebuilding our beloved Ghana,” he advised.

Mahama also highlighted the need for unity, urging all citizens to avoid actions that could harm the nation’s institutions and democracy. He reiterated his call for immediate intervention by the government and security forces to restore order, emphasizing that state power remains under the current administration.

“It is time to demonstrate our commitment to unity and the rebuilding of the Ghana we all desire,” Mahama concluded.
