Kane and Grealish Uncertain for England's Nations League Match
- Kane and Grealish are both doubtful to start England's Nations League match
- Kane, England's record goalscorer and captain, sustained an injury
- Grealish also picked up a slight knock during training
Harry Kane and Jack Grealish are both doubtful to start England’s Nations League match against Greece at Wembley, according to interim manager Lee Carsley.
Both England and Greece have six points from two games in Group B2, having defeated the Republic of Ireland and Finland in their previous matches.
Kane, England’s record goalscorer and captain, sustained an injury during Bayern Munich’s recent game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Carsley stated that while Kane has a minor knock, the team will not take any risks with his fitness. He also announced that John Stones, Manchester City defender, will captain the side at Wembley. Stones expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to lead England.
Grealish also picked up a slight knock during training and his availability for the match will be assessed. Morgan Gibbs-White, Ezri Konsa, and Kobbie Mainoo have been ruled out, with Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento called up as replacements.
Carsley was questioned about Cole Palmer, the recent recipient of England’s player of the season award despite not having started a competitive game for the national team.
