It Was In The Best Interest of NPP Members For Ghanaians To Vote Against Akufo-Addo and Bawumia – NDC’s Brogya Genfi

Brogya Genfi criticizes NPP leadership under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia

Story Highlights
  • John Dramani Mahama won with 6,382,397 votes (56.55%)
  • NDC matched NPP tactics
  • Genfi believes the NPP would have been better off replacing Akufo-Addo and Bawumia

Brogya Genfi, Deputy Director of Special Duties for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that it would have been in the best interest of NPP members to remove President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia, following the party’s historic loss in the 2024 general election.

Genfi’s comments come after the NDC secured a decisive victory, marking one of the most significant electoral defeats for the NPP in recent history.

Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Genfi celebrated former President John Dramani Mahama’s landslide win, securing 6,382,397 votes (56.55%), while his main rival, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).

Genfi hailed Mahama’s victory as “historic,” highlighting that no candidate has ever won by such a significant 1.7 million vote margin. He also detailed the NDC’s strategy of matching the NPP’s tactics, accusing the ruling party of vote rigging in the Ashanti Region and even creating a 17th region to boost their numbers.

“This election wasn’t just about Bawumia; it was a vote of no confidence in Akufo-Addo,” Genfi said, stressing that the widespread economic hardships under the current administration had led to a shift in public sentiment.

He argued that it would have been in the NPP’s best interest to oust Akufo-Addo and Bawumia to reorganize and strengthen the party.

Genfi also labeled Bawumia as “the worst NPP presidential candidate” in history, stating that the NDC had never faced such a defeat even during their most challenging elections.
