”It Is Extremely Difficult to Rig Elections for a Political Party” – EC

Electoral Commission Affirms Commitment to Fairness and Transparency in Electoral Processes

Story Highlights
  • The Electoral Commission's procedures are designed to ensure fairness
  • Election results are declared only after being signed by party representatives
  • Party representatives enter the strongroom without EC officials

Mr. Francis Osei Nsiah, the Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), emphasized that the Commission’s processes are inherently impartial and designed to prevent any manipulation of election results for political parties.

In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Morning Show, he reiterated that it is exceedingly difficult for the EC to skew elections in favor of any party.

He pointed out that the Jean Mensa-led EC is the last authority to see the election results, only announcing those results that have been signed off by representatives from the various political parties.

Mr. Osei Nsiah further explained that party representatives access the strongroom independently, without EC officials present, underscoring the Commission’s lack of influence over the declared results.
