An independent parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency, Louisa Buabeng, has been remanded into police custody by the Winneba High Court on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The decision was made by Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary.
Ms. Buabeng was first arrested on November 20 at the court premises following a hearing related to an election dispute she had initiated.
However, she was re-arrested on Wednesday evening and brought back to court the following morning.
Her arrest stems from the discovery of multiple voter identification cards at the home of one of her aides.
While the aide has been charged with unlawful possession of documents, Buabeng faces charges of conspiracy to commit a crime.
The court has ordered that she remain in custody for four days, with her next court appearance scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2024.
