The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Ghanaians to dismiss false prophecies that could jeopardize the nation’s peace as the December elections approach.
In a statement delivered during the annual prayer gathering on November 29 by the Chief of Sewua, Nana Kwaku Amankwa Sarkodie, the Asantehene cautioned against predictions aimed at favoring political parties and inciting division.
He stressed the importance of focusing on unity and preserving the country’s stability during this critical electoral period.
Otumfuo’s message called on religious leaders to prioritize harmony over divisive rhetoric, warning that such actions risk alienating followers with diverse political affiliations. The event also included prayers for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate, and saw schoolchildren in Kumasi advocating for peace through street demonstrations.
This plea for unity follows a peace pact signed by political parties, reaffirming their commitment to a conflict-free election.
